I do apologise if you're seeing millions of last couple of posts - it is telling me that each only appears once when I try and edit them, but then when I look at the blog there are loads of them - no idea what's going on I'm afraid!

Well, what a lovely weekend. Yesterday it was my 29th birthday – Elsie bought me lots of cheese which is wonderful – she knows me so well! She was so sweet all day, singing to me and generally being gorgeous. And we went to a covenant civil partnership ceremony in the evening which was brilliant, with fantastic music, and projected images and incense burning – Elsie loved it and was so good all the way through. They then had their party afterwards in a big school hall, and she got so excited crawling across the huge open spaces – it made me think we really should find somewhere she can do that more often.
I got quite emotional yesterday, I always find birthdays a time to reassess and look at my life. This was my first birthday with a baby, and I found it quite overwhelming really - when you're living life you're so caught up in getting everything done that you don't really stop and think about it all that much - but I did yeaterday and I thought about the fact that what I have wanted more than anything else in the world for as long as I can remember is to have a baby. And now I have one. And not just any baby, I have Elsie, who is the loveliest, coolest person I know. It is just amazing, ans I feel so very very lucky.
Today we are having a nice relaxed day – Auntie Sally R just came round and brought us a beautiful big carrot cake, but Elsie still can’t have any such delights, far too much sugar I’m afraid!
I missed out the pictures of Sicily, so here we go – this was Elsie’s second trip to Italy when we went over on our huge mission of a trip for Ruth and Bob’s wedding. This is Elsie and Rob in front of the duomo in Cefalu.

Elsie has said her first word!! If your definition is that she has said a word and connected it with some meaning, then I think she has. And this momentous word is…. Moo! We have been playing with her barn full of animals quite a lot recently – with lots of baaing, neighing and mooing (which must be the easiest of those noises to make). This evening she started saying ‘moo’ when she picked up her cows – it is so exciting!
This is a picture of Elsie in her hat that Lorna brought all the way back from Peru - she looks so cute in it but she will never leave it on for more than 3 seconds at a time!

Welcome to our house of pestilence and snot. Both Elsie and Rob are poorly at the moment. Elsie's conjuctivitis seems to be improving, but she still has a cold (and is producing enormous quantities of snot!) and isn't her normal cheery self at all.
Gran came to our rescue this week, cause the highly contagious Elsie couldn't go in to nursery - so she dashed up from Devon to come to our aid and take care of her stricken granddaughter, which was great otherwise we would have been taking time off work unpaid. Rob's cold then got worse too so he took a day off on Friday. I just wish they would both get well. Oh well, worse things happen at sea.

Elsie has conjuctivitis, poor little thing. I took her to the doctor this morning, so she didn't go into nursery - and we got some drops. She absolutely hates them, and the only way to get them in is to pin her down, like she's a cat you're giving a pill to - it is horrible. She is cheerful enough in herself, but just really tired all the time, she slept for about four hours today, on top of 13 hours sleep last night.
This is Elsie playing with Zelia's bouquet - she was completely fascinated by it (she didn't catch it though!)

Elsie is standing up – it is magnificent! Only holding on to things, but she can pull herself up and stand in a very wobbly manner for a few seconds all by herself. Wow! She is so cool.
I am so pleased it’s the weekend – although annoyingly this morning my alarm went off, so we were all awoken by salsa merengue at 6.30am, which was such a delight. But we went back to sleep after first breakfast and so I don’t feel too bad now. Elsie is having a wee nap while I write this.
We have now got to Cornwall in our wedding journey round Europe. This is Elsie in her rucksack carrying device!

It is Rob’s birthday today so we have all had a day off to spend a lovely family day together. It has been utterly gorgeous, except I now feel a bit poorly – I had dall for my lunch and it always seems to disagree with me, which is unfortunate because I love it. Anyway, Elsie seems to have enjoyed a day in the bosom of her family – we went out shopping to Park Street and she was scrutinising everyone that we saw out and about – she is so full of curiosity for the world around her.
She was very thoughtful and bought her dad March of the Penguins on DVD and three records – Public Enemy, Donny Hathaway and Fred Wesley and the Horny Horns (!) – for his birthday, which he very much appreciated! She also made him a lovely hand print card at nursery, which is very sweet.
She is having a little nap at the moment, before bath and supper – then Paula and Tom are coming to babysit so Rob and I can go out to the cinema to see The Departed for his birthday treat, hoorah!

She’s gone to bed mega early again tonight – I got in from work at about quarter to six and she wasn’t very happy at all – so we abandoned tea half way through, and skipped straight to supper and bed. She is sleeping soundly now, but I have seen her for a total of about 50 minutes all day today – god, it’s so depressing.
Anyway, on a jollier note I got loads of pictures back today and there are some corkers. Here is one of Elsie and her best mate the washing machine during one of the many hours they wile away in happy companionship. I know her head appears to be on sideways here, but do not be alarmed, it is now rectified!

It was lush to get the message from Ally the other day - thanks for saying hello and I hope all is well with you. Three people have told me this week that they regularly read the blog (you know who you are!) - so I know you're out there! Please could everyone reading this leave a comment. What with champion commenter Granny being away on holiday we feel like we're sending these posts out into the ether with no idea who is out there! Thanks very much!
Hello! We had a fantastic day yesterday going fancy shopping with Auntie Katie and Auntie Sally – buying bridesmaids dresses for Katie’s wedding, not for Elsie yet as I have no idea what size she’ll be next March. We went to lots of posh shops in London and Elsie was an absolute angel (unlike Auntie Sally who destroyed a whole coat display in French Connection!!) and found some lovely dresses in Whistles in Selfridges – most exciting!
I was really in two minds about whether to take Elsie – as we had such serious shopping to do – but I have been getting quite upset about not seeing her enough this week. As she hasn’t been well she’s been going to bed very soon after getting home and I worked out I’ve been seeing her for less than an hour in total all day, which is horrible. So I couldn’t bear the thought of a whole day away from her, and took her to London. And I’m so glad I did – she was ace. It was really funny on the train on the way home – after it got dark and she could see her reflection in the window – she was playing peek a boo with herself – most amusing.
These are the last couple of pictures of our trip up to Knowsley a while ago – this is Elsie doing So Big! You can see her two little teeth here – although I think they have grown since this was taken.

Life continues to be extremely hectic for us all – not least our little girl. She is not a happy bunny at the moment – more teething I think, accompanied by lots and lots of snot - poor little thing. Rob had a phone call at work this morning from nursery asking for permission to give her some Calpol, and he is on stand by to go and get her if it gets any worse. So now I am feeling rubbish cause I know she’s not right, and I want to be the one to take care of her. I’m sure I’ll be able to leave work an hour or so early today, I’ve been putting in sooo many hours, so I can get home for half four and be there when she gets home at the very least.
On a lighter notes, here are some nice pictures. This is Elsie attacking the lovely Sarah Fry a few weeks ago!
